Whitefish swim team competes well in Polson

Bulldog swimmers came out after the school winter break to compete at the Polson Invite on Friday against teams from Columbia Falls, Polson and Bigfork.

Whitefish senior Jack McDaniel led the way again winning the boys 100 yard breaststroke race in a time of 1:07.56. McDaniel also came in third in the boys 50 free, both races were state qualifying times.

Freshman swimmer Gavin Sibson placed first in the 200 yard freestyle race, swimming it in 1:57.99. He also took third in the 100 freestyle. He had state qualifying times as well as personal bests in the meet.

For the girls, sophomore Georgia Morell took second place in the 200 freestyle and third in the 100 free. In the girls 100 yard backstroke, junior Emi Qunell placed third with a time of 1:18.16 and sophomore Gretel Vine was just behind her in fourth place.

The Whitefish girls 200 freestyle relay team placed second and the same team of four girls took third in the 200 individual medley relay.
