Enid McFarland, 81
On Saturday, Jan. 28, Enid McFarland, beloved mother, passed away after a sudden illness. She was 81 years old. Born to Anson and Beatrice Gerrie, Enid was a much-loved first grade teacher at Muldown Elementary School in Whitefish, Montana for nearly 30 years before retiring to winter over in Mexico with her husband Paul who died in 2005. She continued to winter over in Mexico, traveling with her Yorkshire terrier Georgie.
Enid loved mysteries and always had at least one book at hand. She wore out several Kindles and read on them, her computer, her iPad and her phone, as well as physical books. She remained active until the very end, going on miles-long walks with Georgie daily. One of her great joys over the years was boogie boarding in Mexico and kayaking. She was delighted to regularly see whales and dolphins up close on the bay in her favorite town, La Manzanilla.
She is survived by her two children, Mary Raichle of Seattle, Washington, and Tim McFarland of Oregon, Missouri, as well as her three grandchildren Maverick, Kal and Maelae.
Donations in her name can be sent to Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's Rescue, Inc. http://www.theyorkshireterrierclubofamerica.org/aboutYorkies-Rescue or to CHEW Dog Rescue https://www.chewdogrescue.org/index.php/donate.
A memorial service will be held during the summer at a to-be-determined date and time.
