Whitefish had strong first quarters in both games, but each took a different turn. The Bulldogs defeated Libby 40-28 on Friday night but fell to Columbia Falls Saturday, 70-33.

Playing in Libby, Whitefish came out hot with a 15-9 first quarter. Their defense remained tough through the second in order to take a 21-12 lead into the break. Again the Lady Bulldogs came out strong in the third quarter to further their lead. Libby tried to catch up in the end, but Whitefish hung on to the game, 40-28.

Leading the Bulldogs was junior Bailey Smith with 18 points and junior Jude Perry with 11.

Whitefish then played in Columbia Falls the next evening. Whitefish played even with Columbia Falls in the first quarter, but then the Kats started gaining more ground. The Wildkats put up 21 points in both the second and third quarters to take a large lead heading into the final period of play. Whitefish did not have a good second half offensively as the Wildkats continued to score on their way to the big 70-33 victory.

Smith again led Whitefish in the game with 17 points and Perry had 11 points.

For Columbia Falls, Hope McAtee scored 15 and Taryn Borgen had 13 as 11 players scored in the game.

Whitefish wrapped up the regular season with a 5-11 overall record, 2-8 in league play. The Lady Dogs finished the season fifth in the Northwest A conference and will have to win two play-in games to make the divisional tournament.

Whitefish will host sixth-place Libby on Thursday at 6 p.m. for the first play-in game at Whitefish High School. If the Bulldogs win, they will play again on Saturday with the location and time to be determined.
