The annual Whitefish Winter Carnival Treasure Hunt is over. Whitefish residents Steven Dicello, Meghan Schultz and their son Jackson Dicello found the Winter Carnival Treasure on Wednesday evening under a barbeque grill at Whitefish City Beach near the gazebos.

The family started their hunt at City Beach because the first clue had the words “seek and find” which to them sounded like search and rescue which has a boat at the beach. Also from the first clue, they knew it was in an area that was usually busy but wouldn’t be right now. They looked high and low starting at Search and Rescue and eventually made it all the way to the gazebos where the treasure was found under a barbecue grill.

The family lives in Whitefish and Meghan is a local wedding and family photographer with Maggie May Photography. Jackson will get to go on a shopping spree at Imagination Station with a portion of the money and he is very excited.

Whitefish Winter Carnival organizers explained the treasure was hidden at City Beach — home of the Penguin Plunge (ice) and the it was attached to the grill (fire) near the first gazebo east of the concession stand

Although the Treasure Hunt is over this year, Whitefish Winter Carnival would like to release the third clue and again thank its sponsors, Eric Schmidt of First Interstate Bank, Doug Reed of Whitefish Lake Restaurant and Lin Akey of Glacier Bank, and all who help put on the Whitefish Winter Carnival.

“I'd like to personally give a shout-out to all the secret elves who promote and support Winter Carnival year after year. The keys to making Whitefish Winter Carnival so successful are the Whitefish businesses and the many hard-working folks behind the scenes. I appreciate the people that make our Winter Carnival ‘pretend world’ go 'round! So much work goes into planning activities including the treasure hunt, disco party, pie social, pancake breakfast, penguin plunge and the parade (to name a few)... not to mention our first responders who are there if needed and keep it in control and fun for all!

“Thank you to all the Citizens of the Realm for truly making Whitefish the ‘Last Best Place’ to live and work!” says an organizer of the treasure hunt who would like to remain anonymous.

Clue #3

Walk around take in the view.

If you see one of our brave responders be sure to say thank you!

Hopefully you have figured out all the clues

If you have taken it all in, you might win...What have you got to lose!
