Police Calls: Online blackmail and a creepy Uber ride

Jan. 17

11:48 a.m. Someone found and turned in a black leather wallet containing $10 and several credit cards.

12:10 p.m. The caller from Spokane Avenue was asking questions about using a paintball gun within city limits to scare deer away.

3:23 p.m. Although the caller said someone was breaking parking rules on Iowa Avenue, all the cars parked at the location were found to be parked legally and neither side of the road is marked no-parking.

3:37 p.m. Someone called to say there was a man acting weird in the middle of the street.

3:47 p.m. The driver of a red Dodge hit an Escalade’s back bumper and after leaving the scene for a while, he came out of the location on Seventh Street and the two parties exchanged information.

8:47 p.m. A “lone female” took a ride from an Uber driver even though the plates didn’t match. He drove her the wrong way, dropped her off in the middle of nowhere and seemed “creepy.”

Jan. 18

9:17 a.m. The alarm company was messing with the alarm at a location on Baker Avenue and an employee was sent out, as well.

10:44 a.m. The owners brought their dog inside after neighbors on Woodland Place called about it barking.

10:50 p.m. The caller thought the big piece of construction equipment, possibly a forklift, in the road on Colorado Avenue is difficult to see in the dark because it has no reflective stickers or cones around it. The construction company will make a better effort to make it safe.

11:31 a.m. The theft of a bag containing passport keys, cosmetics and cash was reported.

4:39 p.m. The driver of a red Silverado on Baker Avenue locked his keys in the truck.

6:19 p.m. A vehicle was sitting in the turning lane on Highway 93 for about 30 minutes with its flashers on before being pushed into a nearby construction site.

8:15 p.m. Someone driving through the area of River Lakes Parkway accidentally dialed 911.

8:17 p.m. Another man who accidentally dialed 911 did so while trying to take a screenshot.

Jan. 19

10:31 a.m. The caller who exchanged explicit photos with someone he met online and then was threatened with blackmail, was advised to block the person and not send any money.

12:29 p.m. Someone reported losing a dog on Lion Mountain.

1:04 p.m. The caller said employees at a business on Highway 93 accused him of shoplifting and stated they were very rude to him and he wanted to talk to law enforcement about possible legal action.

1:35 p.m. Three males going through a truck in a vacant lot behind a business on Wisconsin Avenue were considered suspicious.

8:49 p.m. The construction going on at the location on Crestwood Drive was loud and the caller was advised to call back if it was still going on after 10 p.m.

11:15 p.m. The sounds of doors slamming and people fighting across the street on Waverly Place was disturbing and spurred the neighbor to call police.

2:20 a.m. A small girls bike was found.
