Track club athletes place in first winter meet
The Stumptown Track Club competed over the weekend in Spokane at The Podium.
The local club had 13 participants — four girls and nine boys — at the Spokane Speed Games. The meet was the first competition of the season for the Stumptown Track Club. The Spokane Speed Games had athletes from over 30 different teams competing.
In the meet, Brooke Zetooney of Whitefish placed seventh in the 60 meter dash out of more than 70 athletes. Alivia Rinehart (Flathead) placed third in 60 meter hurdles.
For the boys, Evan Barnes of Glacier was second, Ethan Anderson (Glacier) was fourth and Jacob Dolezal (Flathead) was sixth in the 60 meter hurdles.
The Stumptown Track Club was formed over the summer and includes athletes from most area high schools. The Club competes in the West Division, Region 11 of USA Track and Field Clubs (USATF) — including teams from Montana, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. There is a winter indoor season and a summer season.
