WTC to hold auditions for production ‘Misery’

| December 13, 2023 1:00 AM

Whitefish Theatre Company is holding auditions for their upcoming main stage production of “Misery”, the stage adaptation of Stephen King’s best-selling novel. Auditions will be held on Dec. 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

Please arrive early to fill out an audition application, fill out a waiver form and review the script. Enter through the north side of the building near WTC’s parking lot and conference room.

True life becomes stranger than fiction when an acclaimed romance novelist Paul Sheldon wakes up incapacitated in the secluded home of Annie Wilkes — his “number one fan” — after she rescues him from a wintery car crash. While Paul is on the mend, Annie insists she must proofread Paul’s latest book but becomes blind with rage when it is revealed Mr. Sheldon has killed off Annie’s favorite character, Misery Chastain. As Annie forces the injured Paul to write a new Misery novel, he realizes the unhinged Annie has no intention of letting him leave, prompting a game of cat-and-mouse as he tries to outsmart her and plan his escape. Based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel, this spine-tingling stage adaptation will grip you until the very end. This production is recommended for mature audiences.

Kim Krueger is the director of this production. The cast is comprised of one woman and two men ages 30 and up. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided. If you would like to familiarize yourself with the script, it is available at valley public libraries. Rehearsals for “Misery” will begin in early January with performances Feb. 23-25 and 29, and March 1-2.
