Police Calls: Sometimes suspicious men are doing nothing illegal

Nov. 19

-A member of the security team reported a black bear up a tree on Woodland Star Circle. He said residents of the area were scared to go outside.

-The manager of the homeowners association on Jasper Loop said he had pictures of vehicles and plates for people hopping a fence to use a private hot tub. Over 10 incidents of people trespassing to use the hot tub have been reported.

-Someone reported seeing a camp that a male transient had set up. They gave no details but said he had some green things and some orange things. The man was not breaking any rules.

-Another male, this one living near some public bathrooms, was not doing anything illegal.

-The caller said his friend was driving his car last night and was arrested for a DUI. The caller wanted to know where his vehicle had been towed.


Nov. 20

-An apparently unhinged woman called to report aggressive deer in her yard on Fourth Street. She told police she will “stab them with a pitchfork if someone doesn’t do something about it.”

-Apparently, someone cut a corner on Spokane Avenue and knocked down the walking signal screen. 

-After 10 p.m., someone called to complain about the noise coming from a nearby auto shop on Second Street. The caller said that for over an hour, they have been running their vehicles and revving engines with loud mufflers.

-A very evasive and very upset caller wanted to know what police officers actually do.


Nov. 21

-It was not exactly an accidental call to 911 when someone who just got a new phone called 911 just to make sure the phone could call 911.

-A caller on Colorado Avenue said he was scammed out of $10,000.

-There are questions about whether there is money missing from an HOA account on Agate Drive.

-A couple who had been drinking heavily, entered a location on First Street. They were reported to police when they left in a red pickup.


Nov. 22

-Three horses were loose on JP Road.

-The caller’s friend was about to fall off a 100-foot cliff on Ursa Major Drive. The vehicle was off the side of the road on a steep angle. Snow was melting beneath the slowly slipping vehicle. A trooper and Hill Brothers arrived and the vehicle was pulled back to the road.

-Three vehicles, a black Subaru, a white Pontiac and a motor home collided on 13th Street when one was trying to turn south on Highway 93.


Nov. 24

-A large underage party was reported when the caller saw about 50 people stumbling around in the alley near Dakota Avenue.
