City reminds residents, businesses of snow removal requirements
On Dec. 1 the City of Whitefish sent out a reminder to all residents and businesses that, with the first snowfall of the season, there are snow and ice removal responsibilities in Whitefish.
The release states that the requirements of snow removal for commercial and residential properties is outlined in the Whitefish City Code 7-2-2.
Business owners and tenants must keep all sidewalks and shared-use paths in front of or adjoining premises clear of ice, snow and slush. For residential districts, owners and tenants share the same responsibility as commercial but have 24 hours to remove snow and ice.
Also the release states, “To assist in roadway snow removal, alternate-side-parking is in effect until April 30. On even-numbered calendar days, vehicles shall park on the even-numbered side of the road; on odd-numbered calendar days, vehicles shall park on the odd-numbered side of the road. Alternate-side parking shall not apply to streets where alternate-side parking is not available.”
The city asks everyone to be neighborly and assist those who are not able to remove snow or ice.
“The City of Whitefish appreciates your cooperation in keeping our sidewalks and shared paths safe for all pedestrians,” the release says.
