Simulated active shooter training exercise at middle school Friday

Emergency service personnel will be conducting a training exercise that will simulate an active shooter incident on Friday, Aug. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Whitefish Middle School, located at 600 East Second Street.

According to an official release, this training will prepare first responders from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, Whitefish Police Department, Whitefish Fire Department and U.S. Border Patrol to identify hazards, assess vulnerabilities and coordinate resources during the type of critical response.

The community can expect to see a large presence of armed law enforcement officers and emergency vehicles in the immediate vicinity of Whitefish Middle School on Friday.

To ensure the safest and most productive experience for first responders, the public is asked to stay clear of the area during the training exercise.
