Ballet performance in Bigfork
Kalispell’s Northwest Ballet Company is presenting "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on stage this Mother's Day weekend at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts. The show is part of the company’s 43rd Annual Spring Production.
Performances are Saturday, May 13th, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, May 14th, at 4 p.m. The popular Fairies Parade will follow the 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday in the Theater.
With a story by William Shakespeare, music by Felix Mendelssohn, choreography by Marisa Roth, costumes by Katie Sako, backdrops by Linda Ensign, lighting by Rich Haptonstall and the dancers of the Northwest Ballet the result is an impressive collaboration.
"This is such a fun, humorous, visually pleasing, emotion-meeting, crowd-rousing, talent-capturing production and we are excited to see children of all ages in Bigfork for it," exclaims Northwest Ballet Company Director Marisa Roth. "If you've never been to one of our shows, or if our “Nutcracker” over Thanksgiving is the only production of ours you've seen, I invite you to broaden your horizons and come out over Mother's Day Weekend, you won't be disappointed!"
Their spring performances offer the Company a chance to expand their repertoire and continuously entertain faithful audiences with eclectic productions suitable for the whole family.
Northwest Ballet Company Principal Calli Jerman, a senior at FHS, is dancing the coveted lead role of Queen Titania.
"I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the incredible experience I've had being a part of this Company,” said Jerman, nearing her final performance. “It has been an absolute joy to dance alongside my friends and learn from Miss Marisa, who has become such an important person in my life. It is so bittersweet dancing in my last performance, and this show will be so exciting!"
Northwest Ballet Company Principal Joelle Folkman, also a senior at FHS, is dancing the role of love-struck Hermia.
"I've had an amazing time stepping into this role and am going to miss the fun rehearsals and Company shenanigans. I could not be more grateful for the experience
I've had with the Northwest Ballet,” Folkman said. “I have so much love for everyone at the Northwest Ballet and it's going to be so hard to say goodbye, but I've been well-prepared by their amazing teachers and am so excited for the future."
Ticket prices are $22 Adults and $15 Children (12 and under). Tickets will be available at the Bigfork Center's box office, 526 Electric Avenue, one hour before the performances start.
