Police Calls - A handful of bicycles reported stolen

August 11
7:45 a.m. A neighbor on Park Avenue who allegedly feuds with everyone was filling the air with diesel fumes.
8:06 a.m. The business on Spokane Avenue has camera footage of the older male who broke in and took “a lot of different items.”
8:39 a.m. A seemingly friendly female Saint Bernard was found on Kalispell Avenue and turned in to the Whitefish Police Department.
10:09 a.m. The caller said he left his blue hybrid-type bicycle at the farmers’ market with a lock on it and it is no longer there
10:22 a.m. The business on Highway 93 has video of people dumping large amounts of trash in the business’ bins. Additionally, they were dumping the trash in the bin designated ‘cardboard only.’
1:51 p.m. A white VW Passat and a black Dodge Ram experienced a rear end collision with no injuries.
5:01 p.m. The caller on Highway 93 said he believes the couple in the store now stole things from the store in the past but he hasn’t seen them shoplifting today.
5:27 p.m. A purple womens’ bike was reportedly stolen from a porch on Second Street.
5:53 p.m. A woman who was walking with her child on Lenna Joy Drive confronted a man who was masterbating. The surprised man ran away.
August 12
6:21 a.m. While escorting ungulates is not considered part of a policeman's duty, a concerned citizen called to ask an officer to assist a “gorgeous buck” about to cross Baker Avenue, fearing it could be struck by a speeding vehicle.
2:02 p.m. After her vehicle was the recipient of a hit and run on First Street, the caller believes there is surveillance video of the occurrence.
3:27 p.m. Reportedly, the driver of a white Volkswagen smelled of alcohol and was driving all over the road on Wisconsin Avenue with his hazard lights on.
3:38 p.m. A caller reported having two bicycles stolen from the bike rack on her car. The rack also came off the vehicle.
5:42 p.m. The cat hoarding problem persists on Edgewood Place as residents continue to complain about the number of cats and the feces.
8:06 p.m. A caller from Central Avenue can’t tell exactly where the sound is coming from but there has been very loud music playing near the river for a couple hours. It sounds like a pounding noise and like a marching band.
9:51 p.m. In a case of criminal mischief on Baker Avenue, a neighbor knocked a clay statue off the caller’s deck and broke it.
2:50 a.m. A caller reported her neighbor on Baker Avenue was “howling at the moon again,” but the complaint was unfounded.
4:58 a.m. More noise on Baker Avenue was coming from someone playing the drums, possibly to anger the neighbors.
August 13
12:15 p.m. A male accidentally dialed 911 from his pocket and later told the police that it was “like my fourth time accidentally calling.”
1:33 p.m. A small black Labrador, possibly on Waverly Place, was barking on and off when people walked by.
8:29 p.m. The caller on Woodland Place found a large, brown, mixed-type dog and was advised to take it to the Whitefish Police Department.
9:30 p.m. A group of skateboarders were advised to ride out of the downtown area.
9:37 p.m. Someone had to be counseled about smoking marijuana in public.
11:24 p.m. The noise was coming from the Mountain Harbor Boat Club and the caller would like it to stop. Reportedly, the club’s security would shut it down.
4:23 a.m. When the caller got home, his dog was not there, but the two were reunited at the police station.
