Tee to Green: Season wraps up at golf course
Winter Cart Storage
For those golfers storing their carts in the cart barn at Whitefish Lake Golf Club please remember that the club’s staff does not check your cart. You should either check it yourself at least once per month or arrange to have someone check the charger. It is recommended that if your cart has a tow mode that you rotate the switch to that position for the winter. Also, please do not overfill your batteries as they will overflow during charging cycles.
Cart Waiting list
We now have nearly 100 members on the cart storage waiting list for a space in the cart barn at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. In order to remain on the list you must maintain your membership every year. I would remind all cart storage users that the spaces are leased to one specific name of the cart owner. Car spaces only transfer to the member’s spouse, providing they are a member as well. If you share a cart, the lease will not transfer to anyone else upon cancellation of their membership.
Club house remodel
Progress continues on the remodel of the former bagroom area. Currently, the footings and foundation walls have been poured and we expect to see floor joists and walls coming out of the ground in the next week or so. The remodel will repurpose the space to include simulators open for use by all our members to rent starting next summer and fall.
Tips for the Winter
It is always best to store your clubs in a heated area over the winter. Extreme cold or heat can severely damage your grips and even affect the housel connection.
Stretch to maintain your swing
I always recommend stretching for all golfers to maintain their flexibility and to reduce potential injury when swinging the club. Having good flexibility is probably the most important single factor in being able to hit the ball solidly and with effective distance. Take the time each day to stretch and swing a club about 20 times per day during the winter.
