Rotary Club opens new bathrooms at Smith Fields

| October 26, 2022 12:00 AM

The Rotary Club of Whitefish recently opened its Gotta Go Bathrooms at Smith Fields Youth Sports Complex.

The club raised money to purchase prefabricated concrete bathrooms that are ADA compliant to be placed at the sports complex, noted Club President Nicole Jemming. The bathrooms are insulated, thus enabling them to be open most of the year.

The Gotta Go Bathrooms will now serve the many area youth and fans associated with soccer, lacrosse, softball, baseball leagues, plus community events. Project Whitefish Kids constructed the foundation and provided the extension and connection of utilities.

Fundraising via the Whitefish Community Foundation’s Great Fish Community Challenge set the pace to achieve the goal for the Gotta Go Bathrooms. In addition to the money raised from many generous donors, the community foundation conferred upon the project a $15,000 Major Grant Award. Also, Glacier Bank received the Corporate Citizenship Award during the campaign and assigned $2,500 to the project.

Additional funds for the Gotta Go Bathrooms were received through the Day of Giving and Unity, also sponsored by the Whitefish Community Foundation. The fundraising goal was met with major donations from the VFW Post 276 (Whitefish), the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund, the Treacy Foundation and Logan Health Whitefish.

Rotary International is an international service organization bringing together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and advance goodwill and peace around the world. The Rotary Club of Whitefish organizes the Magic of Christmas each holiday season and the Pancake Breakfast during the Winter Carnival.

The club also supports the Whitefish Thunder Special Olympics Team, clean water projects in Guatemala and scholarships for local students and in Nepal.
