Annual Meeting Saturday
The annual business meeting of the Whitefish Lake Golf Association is set for this Saturday, Oct. 15, with a hosted brunch starting at 9:15 a.m. and the meeting starting at 9:30 a.m. Come find out what’s going on with your club and what are the plans going forward. The committees will all report on their status and plans for 2023. We will also further explain the remodel plans for the club house and what you can expect to experience. Call 862-5285 to confirm your plans to attend so our staff can cook up the best bacon on the planet.
Remodel moving forward
Martel Construction is the general contractor for the club house remodel and we are pleased with the level of planning and communication that has taken place on a regular basis. Our Architect, Matt Lawrance, of Montana Creative has been outstanding with his leadership through this process over the last two years. We are all so appreciative of Dow Powell, long-term member at WLGC, for being our owner representative during the construction. This week the concrete is being poured for the foundation and we should see walls rising shortly.
Golf Course closing
The golf season will be ending as of Oct. 24 with the remodel forcing our staff to shut down the Golf Shop. This has been a great season at WLGC with some spectacular weather and playing conditions on the course. The staff has managed the extreme dry conditions admirably with lots of hand watering required during long stretches without moisture. Thanks to all our staff, maintenance, starters/player assistants and food and beverage all continue to be outstanding.
Get a grip
We’ve all heard “get a grip” a few times in our lives and often it’s not golf related. The best way to get a proper grip is to start by standing up straight. While standing straight up, put a club into your left hand as it naturally hangs by your side. Your left thumb should be just to the left side of the grip. Lift the club so it is in front of you and at a 45-degree angle. Place your right hand on the grip and let your right thumb sit on the left side of the handle. Now just lower the club to the ground and you should have proper grip. What’s always important is to have both hands matching or facing each other with a grip pressure that is consistent throughout the swing.
