Tee to Green: Remodel underway, absentee ballots due soon
Construction underway
The remodel of the bag room area is officially underway as of this past Monday. We are all excited to finally see this project rolling forward as we repurpose an area that was under-utilized. By the time you are reading this column, the demolition will be nearly completed for the majority of the back section of the area. We ask that if you are at the site please be aware of the construction and follow the signage. Parking in the back parking lot will be limited as we have large equipment working and trucks hauling materials away. Please use the back entrance (Ramsey Avenue) and upper parking lot if you have a golf cart in storage.
11 Green South completed
The reshaping of the 11th green on the South Course has been finished to allow for at least 40% more hole locations on a very large green. It was amazing to watch our crew strip the sod, reshape the surface and then replace the sod in the same order it was removed, all within a four-day period of time. A special thanks to Mike Combs and his staff with special appreciation for the talented work by Frank Landis. WLGC is fortunate to have Frank Landis on staff as he has been building golf courses for nearly 40 years.
Absentee ballots
If you wish to vote for the new board members and are not planning to attend the Annual Meeting on Oct. 15, you may cast your ballot in the Golf Shop prior to the meeting. Just ask the staff behind the counter of the Golf Shop and they will give you a ballot provided you are a Tier-One member and 18 or older. If you plan to attend the Annual Meeting please call the restaurant at 862-5285 to reserve a spot and help us plan for the correct number of attendees for the hosted brunch.
Keeping Putts on line
The biggest problem with putts that don’t stay on line is body movement or swaying. One way to help with leg movement is to turn your toes inward a little. Keeping your head absolutely still is another key, so focus on the back of the ball and don’t look up until you either hear the ball fall in the hole or think it should be there. Remember you are mostly just rocking your shoulders back and forth to make a good stroke. Taking the putter back slowly is also the best way to stay on line.
