Cawdrey Gallery presents the final Whitefish Gallery Night of 2022, “An Evening of Glass and Light” with artists Grace Chepnick of Seattle, Washington and Ann Justin of Bozeman, Montana on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 6-9 p.m. The artists will bring new works and be available for questions about their process. Charcuterie and wine, and spirits will be served.

Chepnick is currently studying at the prestigious Pilchuck Studio founded by Dale Chihuly outside of Seattle. Chepnick graduated in spring 2021 from the University of Miami as a Foote Fellow Honor Student with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture and painting. She will be showing her latest glass works.

“I approach my work as a sculptural painter. My first love has always been painting, but since discovering a deep-rooted passion for glass, it has permeated into the work as a physical presence of the subject's aura…” she said. “Each piece I create is set to honor the energy, life and connection we experience and place an emphasis on it for the viewer.”

Justin studied at the Yale School of Drama turning her studies in costume design on Broadway and for Lincoln Center. After a vacation in Montana, Justin began to study working with pastels and now specializes in portraiture, Native American figures, and painting Glacier National Park.

“Now as a fine art pastelist, I paint beautiful landscapes ‘en plein air’, searching out intimate scenes with interesting features, capturing vibrant colors and light that are present here. I also paint when I travel, enjoying the diverse beauty, and the chance to look and appreciate a scene for an extended period of time,” said Justin.
