The Glacier Avalanche, an all-girls hockey team from the Flathead Valley traveled to Canada the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Thirteen Montana girls attended a 10/12 U all girls' tournament in Canal Flats, British Columbia and came away with a 4-0-0 record, along with some great memories. The team consisted of Peewee and Squirt aged girls (9-12 years old), some with minimal full-ice experience.

They faced teams from Cranbrook, Golden, East Kootenay and Trail, B.C., made new friends, played off-ice games and made unicorn hair in sub-zero temperatures at the hot springs.

Young girls' hockey is alive and well and right here in Whitefish. Thanks to key adults Chris and Rachelle Grant, Bobee Hyland and Jill Lawrance.(Photo provided)
