| May 11, 2022 1:00 AM

Logan Health — Whitefish has been identified as one of the top 20 critical access hospitals in the United States. The top 20 scored best among critical access hospitals based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™ compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

This award is presented by the National Rural Health Association, and the slate of winners is a subset, the top-ranking 20, from Chartis’s list of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals released earlier this year.

“We are extremely honored by this recognition of our commitment to patient care and serving our rural communities as a Critical Access Hospital,” said Kevin Abel, President of Logan Health – Whitefish. “This distinction demonstrates the quality care that our caregivers provide to patients every day across the service area. It reaffirms that Logan Health — Whitefish continues to fulfill our mission to be the center of healing for our communities. I’m incredibly proud of our teams.”

The top 20 critical access hospitals have achieved success in overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indices of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance.

The Top 20 Critical Access Hospital best practice recipients have achieved success in one of two key areas of performance:

Quality index — a rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank across rural-relevant process of care measures.

Patient perspective index — a rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank across all 10 HCAHPS domains.

Logan Health — Whitefish is a 501(c)(3), non-profit community critical access hospital located in scenic Whitefish, Montana. Logan Health — Whitefish was the first hospital in Montana to be affiliated with Planetree International, a non-profit organization that provides education and information in a collaborative community of

healthcare organizations, facilitating efforts to create person-centered care in healing environments. The hospital and its outreach clinics serve Flathead and Lincoln counties.
