May 4, 1972
The patient wing air conditioning project at North Valley Hospital was awarded to the 4G Plumbing and Heating Company in the amount of $29,400. Dick Adams, Chairman of the Hospital Board of Directors, said the project employed Drapes Engineering to make the new system compatible with the existing air handling equipment.

May 6, 1982
The county commissioners gave preliminary approval to Montana Wilderness Ranch, a vacation subdivision in the Haskill Basin area. The 460-acre plat provided for 24 residential sites of about two acres each with much of the rest of the area remaining undeveloped. The City of Whitefish expressed concern over the protection of the nearby water sources and reservoir from possible contamination.

The Big Mountain’s $2 million capital improvements program for this summer included a new quad chairlift, four new ski runs and an amphitheater. Chair 6 will serve as an access lift and be constructed below Chair 1. Two beginner runs named “Chipmunk" and “Huckleberry Patch” will be constructed along with an access run called “Barn Dance”. An intermediate run called “Ranger” will be built near the T-bar.

Whitefish City Council voted unanimously to approve using tax increment finance funds to cover the Mountain Trails Ice Rink. The enclosed rink would be called the Whitefish Community Pavilion and provide the community with a year round recreational arena. The project’s cost is estimated at $1.25 million, $300,000 of which would come from the tax increment fund.

The food bank made plans to build a new home at Baker Commons on Flathead Avenue. They had outgrown the little white house on First Street where the organization opened their doors 25 years ago and did not have space for the 343,000 pounds of food that moves through the distribution center annually.
