DREAM Adaptive Shred-a-thon raises money for inclusive recreation
The third annual Shred-a-thon, DREAM Adaptive’s largest fundraising event, was celebrated Saturday on Big Mountain with style galore. Sequins, tutus, capes and wild onesies graced skiers as they piled up over 1 million vertical feet.
Some skied downhill from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while others hiked up and skied down for 10 hours. Two uphill skiers, Jeff Brown and Chance Cooke, skinned the Benny Up trail and skied down Toni Matt 10 times for a total of 21,005 feet.
DREAM met their goal of $40,000 thanks to the 337 donors who gave to the 43 participants. Chance Cooke was the largest individual fundraiser, earning $6,720 and “Team Kate,” which includes his wife, Barb Cooke, and their three daughters, brought in $8,324 — the highest amount by any team.
As of Monday, the total amount raised was $43,391. Totals have also risen since Saturday’s Shred-a-thon because the fundraising campaign remains open until the end of this week. For those interested in making a donation, please visit DREAM Adaptive’s website at www.dreamadaptive.org/events/shred/
