Don “K” and Subaru on Monday presented a check in the amount of $21,000 to the Northwest Montana Veteran’s Stand Down and Food Pantry as a result of being chosen by the employees of the dealership as the 2021 Subaru Share the Love campaign Hometown Charity.

Alan and Linda Erickson, founders of the Northwest Montana Veterans Pantry, received the sizeable donation from Kevin Kaltschmidt, General Manager of Don “K” Subaru.

Subaru Share the Love is an annual giving program. The local donations come from a portion of the sale price of every new Subaru sold or leased during the annual mid-November to Jan. 2 campaign. This year car buyers had a choice of charity: The ASPCA, Make-a-Wish, Meals on Wheels Association of America, the National Park Foundation, or our local hometown charity, the NW Montana Veterans Food Pantry and Stand Down. In addition to the Subaru corporation contribution, Don “K” Subaru added $50 per Subaru sold or leased to the total donation.

“We can’t thank the Don ‘K’ team enough for their generosity and loyalty to the many vets that live here in the Flathead,” Alan Erickson said. “These funds will go to our new Camp Ponderosa and contribute to the Food Pantry.”

Kaltschmidt, a former Marine himself said, “The Veteran community is very important to me and to our entire team here at the dealership. The once-a-year Subaru Share the Love program gives us another opportunity to show the depth of our commitment to those who serve.

“It is only possible because of the loyalty of our many Subaru customers and we thank them all. Subaru and Don “K” Whitefish are committed to local involvement. We feel it helps to make the Flathead Valley a great place to live and raise our families,” he added.

Don “K” Subaru is one of the brands of exceptional vehicles sold at Don “K” Whitefish. In their more than 30 years as a dealership in Northwest Montana and the only one that is locally owned, they have consistently received customer accolades for the best dealership and best customer service in the Flathead Valley.
