Ski racers dominate Northern Division races at Discovery Ski Area

Jackson Surber, Kellie Klepper, and Jordon Jurasek of the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation (FVSEF) race team had dominating performances at a Northern Division race series held at Discovery Ski Area on Feb. 24-27.
Of the three super-G’s and two giant slaloms contested, Surber won all five races for the U14 age class. Klepper had a break-out performance winning two of the super-Gs and one of the giant slaloms, as well as finishing fourth in a third super-G and second in the other giant slalom, in the U16 age class. Jurasek won two of the super-G’s, came second in the other and won both giant slaloms in the U18 age class.
Otto Lund also stepped onto the U16 podium several times with one win and a second place in super-G and two second-place finishes in giant slalom. Younger sister Greta Lund earned three of her own podium results in the U14 age class with a second and third in super-G and a third place in one of the giant slaloms. Other FVSEF podium finishers included U16’s Melody McNalley (third in a super-G) and Raiya McCutcheon (third in a giant slalom).
All races were qualifying events for end-of-the-year Western Region and Tri-Divisional championships in March, to which FVSEF anticipates qualifying many athletes.
