Police Calls: Fire atop a power pole subsided to smoldering glow

Feb. 26

12:00 p.m. A child, a pocket, a purse, and a rear end all made accidental calls to 911 today.

7:58 p.m. A man mistook Baker Avenue for a sidewalk and strolled down the center of it.

Feb. 28

11:19 a.m. Vehicles parked on O’Brien have caused a narrowing of the driving lane.

8:35 p.m. A caller wanted to discuss a strange interaction she had in a store restroom earlier in the day.

March 1

8:51 a.m. Someone lost a “lucky” Irish necklace on Central Avenue.

10:29 a.m. A poor parker on Wisconsin Avenue was advised not to park in handicapped parking lest they want a ticket.

1:39 p.m. One of our neighbors to the north reported that someone broke his van’s window on Third Street.

March 2

9:42 a.m. A water main broke on Spokane Avenue between Third Street and Fourth Street. Traffic was partially blocked while teams worked to fix it.

6:58 p.m. A driver with no headlights got a warning.

8:28 p.m. A caller on Pack Rat Lane saw a fire atop a power pole. Open flames subsided to a smoldering glow.

12:32a.m. The southeast end of the viaduct guardrail was damaged. How and when the injury happened is unknown.

March 3

4:24 p.m. Someone on Glenwood Drive called to complain about a construction trailer that had been left across the street for 3 days. Caller thinks the trailer was abandoned but was unable to get help from the HOA.

7:01 p.m. One truck got tired of another truck tailgating on Skyles Place. The lead truck pulled over, the tailgater passed, and all was peaceful again.

11:25 p.m. Two dogs running around eating trash on Third Street caused a concerned caller to alert the police. The caller was going to try to get the dogs to the shelter.
