Marjorie I. Fisher

Marjorie I. “Marge” (Cleveland) Fisher of Whitefish, Montana, age 89 died Feb. 22, 2022 at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Montana.

Marge was born to C. Guy Cleveland and Velma (Enfield) Cleveland on Dec. 29, 1932 at Lake Crystal, Minnesota. She attended many schools in Minnesota prior to moving to, and graduating high school, Class of 1950, at Liberty Center High School, Liberty Center, Iowa. (Now Southeast Warren)

Marge was an auditor and contracting officer for the U.S. Forest Service, prior to becoming a successful broker, owner and certified financial planner (CFP) with LPL, Linsco Private Ledger with her office in Whitefish, Montana. While doing this, Marge was Mayor of Whitefish, Montana, and also served two terms in the Montana State Legislature as Chair of the Appropriations Committee, representing Whitefish and surrounding areas.

Marge has continued to be active on numerous charitable boards and in community activities. Including Flathead Economic Development Corporation, Soroptimists of Whitefish, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, Business & Professional Women (BPW), Big Brothers/Sisters – Board Member and a Big Sister, United Way, Flathead County Library Trustee, North Valley Music School – Board Member, and Whitefish Community Library volunteer.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Velma Cleveland, and Brother, Guy J. Cleveland. She is survived by daughters, Virginia Goodrich and husband Rob of Driggs, Idaho. Jennifer Hershman and husband Dan of Arlee, Montana. Grandchildren Conrad Cooper and wife Nikki, Clair Thompson and partner Mason, Great-grandchildren Jameson Cooper and Skyler Cooper. Brother, Marvin Cleveland and wife Sharon of Saint Paul. Sister-in-law, Maxi Cleveland of New Bloomfield, Missouri. And many Nephews and nieces, and many friends.

Marge was musical and played saxophone, harmonica, piano, violin, accordion and banjo. She was an author, rockhound and did genealogy. Loved to travel, going to many countries and all 50 States.

Loved exciting things like white water rafting and sky diving in her later years. Loved roller coasters and fast cars.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish for their loving care.

A small Memorial Service is being planned for this Spring.
