Ptarmigan village finished 14 condominium units and 35 were in the final stages of completion. Jerry Schumm, President of Ptarmigan Properties, Inc., said six units sold in the first week to buyers from all across Montana and from Seattle and Spokane.

Mayor Hank Olsen ended the council meeting at 3:55 a.m. After nearly eight and a half hours and 35 speakers, Council adopted the first reading of the city’s proposed zoning ordinance. First, they made 15 changes to the ordinance.

Whitefish City Council disagreed about the installation of raised medians along Highway 93 but they all agreed signal lights were a must along the highway at the intersections with Baker Avenue, Columbia Avenue and in front of the Mountain Mall.

The Montana Grizzlies football team brought their National Championship trophy to Whitefish. Players will participate in several events during the Winter Classic. Joining the Griz in Whitefish this weekend are over 20 current and retired NFL players.

The Whitefish City Council approved a plan to make improvements to Depot Park. The aim is to preserve the park as an open space, not an event area. It was recommended that the tax increment fund would cover the $2.5 million cost.
