Less Desirable?

I am writing in response to the Letter to the Editor that appeared in the Feb. 23, 2022 issue of the Pilot titled “Keeping the riffraff out.”

My family has owned a home on Railway Street since 1937. To read that you, Mr. Connelly, have labeled that area “less desirable” is offensive and untrue. In your quest to make a point about affordable housing, you have insulted an entire neighborhood and the people who call it home.

The reality is that the future residents of the new affordable housing development planned for that area will enjoy a home within walking distance to everything downtown has to offer, within walking distance to all schools and will have a beautiful view of the mountain. Hardly the dregs of town that you have portrayed.
