Whitefish’s Barnes to compete in Miss Montana Competition

The Miss Montana competition will be held in Billings at Movement Montana, 925 Broadwater Avenue on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 7 p.m. Five women will compete for the title.

Bethany Barnes will represent her hometown of Whitefish in the competition. According to a press release, Barnes is studying at the College of Idaho, majoring in biomedical sciences. The talent she will present is ventriloquism, the act called “Anything You Can Do” and her social impact initiative is, Speak Up: Teaching public speaking skills. When attending Whitefish High School Barnes was an active participant on the Speech and Debate team. She graduated from WHS in 2021.

The other competitors are Alexa Baisch from Glendive, Kristy Cullinan from Miles City, Faith Johnson from Helena and Rosalina “Rosie” Ramirez from Helena.

Miss Montana is the state preliminary to the Miss America Competition. One of these women will win the title, scholarships and the opportunity to represent Montana at Miss America in December.

Every year the Miss America Competition gives away thousands of dollars in scholarships to young women who compete.

“Miss America sets the standard for young women who want to take advantage of the impact that scholarship and service can have for them throughout their lives. We are excited for the opportunity to help more young women exceed their expectations” says Danette Sawin, the new Executive Director for the Miss Montana program.
