Thank you for making Woody Weekend a success
Thank You, Whitefish, for helping to make Whitefish Woody Weekend X a huge success. It was a great show with 39 beautiful classic boats from all over the Pacific Northwest, California, and Utah, 12 of which were new to Whitefish Woody Weekend. These boats represented 19 different manufacturers and four different chapters of the Antique and Classic Boat Society. Twenty-three of the 39 participants came to the show from outside the Flathead Valley.
On behalf of all the boat Captains, thank you to the nearly 1500 dock-walkers who enjoyed the great weather and came out and support the event on Saturday. It means a lot to the boat owners to see the tremendous record-breaking turnout. Nearly 500 people cast a vote for the "People's Choice Award" on Saturday. It was a close race with a very slim margin separating the top five boats. People's Choice was awarded to "Jefe", a 2009 CDA Custom Runabout owned by Murry Danzig of Coeur d’Alene, ID. The Captain's Choice Award, voted on by the boat owners, went to "Sarah Lee”, a 1956 Century Blue Arabian, owned by Brian and Kathy Fair of Spokane WA. In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of Chris Craft Boats, the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club presented the Stewardship award to “Oro Y Plata”, a 1930 Chris Craft Upswept Runabout owned by Ken Cook of Polson MT. The Commodore's Award was given to Linda Babiak of Whitefish, Montana.
We would also like to thank those who volunteered their time and docks for card stops on the poker run. It is great to see all the smiling faces so early on a Sunday morning. The poker run best hand was held by the crew of "Sollazarre" a 2000 Hacker Craft Runabout owned by Tom Suiter of Whitefish, Montana. The best poker run time went to "HOBO” owned by Dean Sacket of Lakeside, MT.
Finally, we would like to thank The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and their wonderful staff for being great hosts of the event. The Lodge treated the boat owners to that great Whitefish hospitality and once again demonstrated their commitment to community events.
Hope to see you all again at next year's event on June 23-25, 2023, for Whitefish Woody Weekend XI.
Tim Salt is the Whitefish Woody Weekend X event director and part of the Big Sky Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society.
