Golf Bag Room

As part of the planned renovation for the clubhouse, the bag room will be removed and bag storage will no longer be available at the course. We realize that this is an inconvenience for some members, but think the space can be better utilized. Only about 80 members actually used the bag storage area, so many more members will be able to use the simulators that will be installed in that area. With construction starting in late September, we will ask all those with bags to remove them by mid-September.

Hit a chunk and run from the bunker

If you are in a greenside bunker and have a long distance across the green to the hole, try the chunk and run. Play the ball a little back of center in your stance. Keep the club face square and lean the shaft forward. Be aggressive and hit the sand about 4 inches behind the ball; hold your finish fairly low. The ball will pop out of the sand, land on the green and roll across the green to the hole. This shot is easier than trying to fly the ball in the air a long way and control the distance. The key is to be aggressive through the sand.

Bulldog Open Sunday

The Bulldog Open will be held this coming Sunday on the North Course with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. The full field will be playing and supporting junior golf and the Whitefish High School golf teams. The South Course will be open for play and the North will open up later in the afternoon.

Club Championship Aug. 13-14

Members with a handicap are invited to play in the Club Championship on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13 and 14 respectively. Champions will be declared in Seniors, Super Seniors, Mens, Ladies and junior flights.

State Senior Tournament Aug. 2-4

Whitefish Lake Golf Club will be hosting the Montana State Senior Tournament from Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 2-4. The tournament is on the North Course and play will be open for members each afternoon following Senior rounds. There will be a shotgun start each of the three days at 8:30 a.m. The South Course will be open for member play.
