Police Calls: Firework overload over the Fourth

July 4

8:41 a.m. A green light pole was down, possibly due to being hit by a car, and wires were exposed on State Park Road.

8:49 a.m. Someone requested information about Fourth of July festivities.

9:40 a.m. The caller wanted to know if it was legal for his neighbor to allow a guest to park a camper in front of the house on Icehouse Terrace.

3:40 p.m. A resident on Woodland Place called about someone living in a Suburban overnight in a parking lot. Apparently, the Suburban sleeper is sick and is isolating in the vehicle.

3:44 p.m. There was a lost female Labrador retriever on Fairway Drive.

3:50 p.m. “An old hippy” was trying to chase trespassers off the property on Baker Avenue and requested extra patrol in the area.

4:56 p.m. The caller didn’t feel comfortable checking on a subject who is isolating in a vehicle on Woodland Place.

7:18 p.m. The owner of a car with a flat tire was given until morning to move his car from a “two-hour parking only” area.

7:40 p.m. A driver of a vehicle with a boat attached had to be advised not to park over six spots on Central Avenue.

9:09 p.m. A couple of cars were blocking the alley on Idaho Avenue and the caller could not get out.

9:25 p.m. The driver of a Honda was tailgated by a semi-truck on Highway 93.

9:42 p.m. Some people were lighting fireworks in the roadway on Pine Avenue.

9:58 p.m. The caller is upset over the fireworks and is concerned about her pets, too.

10:02 p.m. Someone was locked in the bathroom at the parking garage but got free.

10:12 p.m. Teenagers were reportedly spitting at people from the top of the parking garage, asking for beer and yelling at people walking by.

10:33 p.m. Police were alerted to a male walking between Kalispell Avenue and Columbia Avenue who was “very wacked out and aggressive.”

11:18 p.m. On Wisconsin Avenue, some people were shooting fireworks at each other in a parking lot.

11: 35 p.m. The caller reported the dumpster fire on Armory Road was contained to the dumpster but was still active.

11:38 p.m. There was a motor vehicle accident with no injuries between a Toyota and a Ford on Minnesota Avenue.

12:06 a.m. A caller reported a group of people on Colorado Avenue with “illegal fireworks.”

12:27 a.m. Someone reported two transients were getting into a squabble on the corner on Central Avenue.

2:00 a.m. Fireworks were going off on Colorado Avenue.

2:13 a.m. Another caller reported fireworks, this time on Labrie Drive and was advised to call the non-emergency number for the WFPD.
