Despite a wet start, over 100 people and 14 birds attended Montana Wild Wings’ program hosted annually by Whitefish Community Library on Thursday, July 7 on the library’s east side lawn.

The all-volunteer staff of Montana Wild Wings Raptor Recovery put on a professional program, expertly handling rehabilitated hawks, falcons, kestrels and owls and strolling throughout the crowd. At the same time, Executive Director Beth Watne provided commentary on each bird’s background, history and habits.

Upcoming at the library is a visit from Sue Couser — educator, art instructor and board member of Stumptown Art Studio. The event is on Thursday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the library. The project is a surprise until the day of. Also, each family will receive a free book compliments of Whitefish Community Library thanks to a grant from Town Pump Charitable Foundation. The program is suitable for elementary-age children and their caregivers.
