Bulldog Open full

The very popular Bulldog Open scramble golf tournament has a full field with a waiting list for this year’s event. Thanks to all of you who have and will be supporting the Bulldog Open, which benefits our Junior Golf program and the Whitefish High School golf teams. Donations may also be made to the nonprofit Gary Norby Junior Golf Foundation to help finance Junior Golf and our WHS teams.

Member/Guest Tournament

If you have not signed up yet for the WLGC member/guest tournament on Aug. 27-28 please do ASAP to assure you and your guest get in this event. The two-person tournament is made up of a WLGC member and a non-member for the two days of competition. One day of the tournament is a net best ball format and the other is a modified Stapleford scoring system all based on established handicaps.

Club Championship

All members at WLGC with an established handicap are invited to participate in the WLGC Annual Club Championship on Saturday and Sunday of August 13 and 14. This tournament is individual medal play and is flighted based on handicaps and divisions. The tournament offers men, women, seniors, super-seniors and junior championship awards. It is a fun two-day event with tee times in the mornings on both days.

Try left-hand low

If you are having trouble with making putts, try putting the left-hand low grip in practice to see if that helps. The left-hand low grip allows your shoulders to be level at address, so the putter should travel lower to the ground to make better contact with the ball. It also prevents the left shoulder from pulling away from the target line. A good feeling to have with this grip is you are using the back of your left hand to stroke the putt. Remember a slow, low and short backstroke will lead to more made putts.
