Whitefish Community Foundation expands Community Grant Program
Whitefish Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recently announced an expansion of the Community Grant Program.
Founded 21 years ago, the Community Grant Program supports nonprofits serving the Flathead Valley and Eureka. The expanded program will allow nonprofits to apply for up to $10,000 to support projects or programs in an effort to make an even greater impact on local communities.
One application cycle will be offered annually in the spring. This year’s application opens Feb. 14 and closes March 24 at 4 p.m. Applications must be completed and submitted through Whitefish Community Foundation’s online granting platform.
To be eligible to apply for a Community Grant, organizations must meet the following requirements:
· Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity or publicly-owned tax-exempt corporation, a 501(c)(4) service organization, or a 501(c)(6) trade organization presenting a project or program that serves a charitable purpose in our community;
· Provide a program or service that benefits residents of the Flathead Valley or Eureka;
· Provide proof of current tax-exempt status at the time of application.
Whitefish Community Foundation encourages small nonprofits to apply for a Community Grant to help the foundation become acquainted with the organization. Receiving a Community Grant is often a stepping stone to being considered as a Great Fish Community Challenge participant.
Organizations that plan to apply to participate in the 2022 Great Fish Community Challenge may also apply for Community Grant funding, provided they are not requesting funding for the same project or program.
Whitefish Community Foundation is dedicated to fostering philanthropy, building endowments, and helping donors and nonprofits benefit our communities. Since 2000, Whitefish Community Foundation has awarded $2.24 million in Community Grants to local nonprofit organizations.
