Glacier Nordic skiers compete in Junior Nationals qualifier
The Glacier Nordic Ski Team competed this weekend at West Yellowstone, Montana, in a Junior Nationals Qualifier of the Intermountain Division. The racers from the Glacier Nordic Club are putting their mark on the race circuit and representing Whitefish as a growing team to watch out for.
This race was number two out of three towards gaining points to potentially qualify for a Junior Nationals qualification, which is a week of races hosting the top juniors in the country on March 6-12 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Glacier Nordic Ski athletes are competing for points, gaining race tactics, and pushing their fitness limits while showing their tenacious fire.
During a sprint day, athletes start out with a solo qualifier lap around the 1.5k course.
The top 30 qualify to race in heats of six athletes. The quarterfinals are elimination rounds, where the top two, and two third places based on fastest time, go on to the next round of semifinals, and then eventually finals.
