Bulldog boys turn on fourth-quarter heat against Eureka

Senior Talon Holmquist’s 15 points, with senior Bodie Smith also chipping in 13 points, led Whitefish to victory over the Eureka Lions at home on Thursday.
The Bulldogs used a big fourth-quarter push to overcome Eureka 47-30. At the half, the Bulldogs trailed by two points and neither team was shooting well. There was a tough defensive effort on both sides as the teams tried to stick with each other.
The game was back and forth with several lead changes before Whitefish took control in the final period of play. The Bulldogs outscored the Lions 18-3 in the fourth quarter which gave them a clear advantage.
The Bulldogs also played Browning on Friday night. Whitefish kept the game close throughout the first half, but allowed Browing a huge 23-point third quarter which was difficult to recover from. Browning’s Maurice Redhorn III led his team with 14 points and Joseph Bullshoe contributed 10.
For the Bulldogs, Smith found the basket for 16 points and Holmquist drove inside to add another 13. Gabe Lund scored 6 points and Fynn Ridgeway and Cody Berry each had 3 points.
Whitefish will again face Eureka on Thursday, this time playing in Eureka. Then the Dogs will host Browning on a double-header with the girls team on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
