Police Calls: Dogs at large, two really fluffy, two aggressive

Nov. 29

11:05 a.m. A driver in his late 20’s or early 30’s with long, dirty blond hair shook his fist at the caller, who was driving the speed limit. He was also driving erratically and tailgating the caller. When the caller pulled over into a business on Baker Avenue, the wild driver followed her in and swerved at her car.

12:32 p.m. Due to vehicles parked in his way, a trucker asked the police for help as he tried to drive out of the alley behind Spokane Avenue.

6:02 p.m. Apparently, when someone dropped their rent check into the wrong mailbox, they tried to retrieve it with wire and tape. The owner of the mailbox asked them to refrain from messing with the mailbox for fear they’d damage it and/or take other items. The doings were seen on video twice.

11:22 p.m. There was someone camping in an outbuilding on a property on which she is not allowed. Law enforcement spoke with the trespasser and it appears she has left.

Nov. 30

8:47 a.m. Someone from an insurance company called with questions about a report a client made about a stolen watch on Iron Horse Drive.

10:22 a.m. Someone on Flathead Avenue reported that a fraud had occurred. He said he received a fraudulent check.

10:52 a.m. A male reportedly stole several bottles of wine and had trespassed at several locations on Baker Avenue and Central Avenue.

11:11 a.m. While driving northbound on Highway 93, the caller saw two people literally walking on the highway in the right lane and not moving for cars. When law enforcement arrived, they were on the shoulder and not posing a hazard any longer.

5:13 p.m. It looked unsafe when a white SUV full of kids pulled another kid on a sled near Smith Fields. The vehicle continued to pass people on the road and drive south on River Lakes Parkway.

6:51 p.m. A warning was given to a driver with expired plates and broken turn signal.

2:33 a.m. Another pedestrian was walking in the middle of the road. He said he was walking all the way to Kalispell.

Dec. 1

7:28 a.m. After checking out an alarm on Sperry Court, law enforcement found all was well.

8:28 a.m. Two huskies were seen running on the sidewalk of Baker Avenue. The reporting party said they are really fluffy.

12:58 p.m. A woman on Ninth Street accidentally dialed 911 with her apple watch.

3:26 p.m. A black Ford Expedition hit the bumper of a Honda CRV in the parking lot on Baker Avenue and there was a little damage.

6:25 p.m. Someone called from Benchmark Lane to report a large water leak happening at a new development across the highway. Water was rushing down the east side lane of the highway and the caller was concerned it would freeze and cause a traffic hazard. The Public Works Department was aware of the situation, shut the water down for the night and would fix it later.

7:44 p.m. The UPS driver had to call the police for help returning to his truck when two pitbulls prevented him from leaving. The dogs behaved aggressively to most but a couple neighbors who were going to try to catch them. The brown and black male dog was caught first and animal control came to help catch the black female who appeared to have just had a litter or was pregnant. No one knew who owned the dogs.

7:44 p.m. A reckless driver on Highway 93 was drifting and getting really close to cars.

10:45 p.m. The HOA president wanted action but was informed the flatbed trailer in the parking lot was not on a city street and he would have to call a private party tow if he was interested in enforcing the HOA rules.

12:11 a.m. The abandoned vehicle in a ditch on Edgewood Place was not a hazard.

1:23 a.m. A male was advised of the rules about sleeping in the city limits and was going to be moving along.

2:45 a.m. The vehicles parked in the parking lot on Spokane Avenue after hours were in the way of snow removal operations and were cited.
