McDaniel leads Whitefish swimmers at Kalispell Invite
Whitefish swimmer Jack McDaniel led the Bulldogs in a season-opening meet in Kalispell on Saturday with two first-place finishes.
McDaniel, a top swimmer for the past two years for the Bulldogs, came away with a win in the boys 200 yard IM with a time of 2:09.77. McDaniel also topped the podium in the boys 100 butterfly; he swam the race in 56.88.
Competing against 10 other schools, some of which are Class AA, the rest of the Whitefish team did well to compete.
Also for the Bulldog boys team, freshman Gavin Sibson placed third in the boys 200 free with a time of 2:01.64. Sibson also took sixth in the boys 100 backstroke.
For the girls team, Rayna Mercer placed 10th in the girls 50 free. Linnea McCrady was 11th in the 200 free and Georgia Morrell was 12 in the 200 free.
Emi Qunell placed the highest for the Whitefish girls in the 100 free, placing 16th.
Overall in the meet, Glacier girls had 315 points and the Glacier boys had 247 to win the team standings. For Class A, Columbia Falls was the best in the team standings with the girls taking fifth and the boys taking fourth overall.
Whitefish will compete again on Saturday in the Great Falls Relays.
