Sensory-friendly Santa visits Dec. 10 in Kalispell
This holiday season, Logan Health Children’s is partnering with Whitefish Credit Union to provide sensory-friendly Santa experiences for families in the Flathead Valley.
On Dec.10 from 10 a.m to 7:30 p.m., Whitefish Credit Union’s South Kalispell branch will be hosting 30-minute visits with sensory-friendly Santa, where children and adults can experience a supportive environment — eliminating long lines, bright lights and loud noises that can trigger sensory sensitivities.
“Traditional Santa visits can be far too overwhelming for children and people with sensory sensitivities and/or autism,” explains Amy Rohyans Stewart, Logan Health child life specialist. “Our Sensory-Friendly Santa is about making a cherished holiday tradition accessible in a quiet and welcoming environment, where Santa follows the lead of each visitor. Our mission is to provide those with unique sensory needs the opportunity for an individualized, happy and memorable Santa experience.”
A photo of the room will be provided ahead of time to help attendees and their families prepare and create a plan for the visit. Advance planning helps give children and adults with sensory sensitivities a structure and expectation they can rely on and be comfortable with.
“Whitefish Credit Union has been a thoughtful and generous partner of Logan Health for many years,” says Carly Rickard, Chief development Officer for Logan Health Children’s We are grateful that they are helping to bring a sensory-sensitive Santa to our community, ensuring people with special needs have the opportunity to experience this magical part of the holiday season.”
Sensory-Friendly Santa Visits will be on Dec. 10, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Whitefish Credit Union in South Kalispell. The address is 1825 U.S. 93 South.
