Tee to Green: Tee times in high demand, tournament this weekend
Member/Guest Tournament
The Annual Member/Guest tournament is this weekend at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. On Saturday the players will compete in a two-person net best ball and Sunday will see a modified Stapleford System used in a points to par format. The popular event has a full field and is always a high-demand tournament for members at WLGC.
Tee time twosomes
With such a high demand for tee times at WLGC this year it is extremely important that we fully utilize the available times by playing in foursomes. When making a tee time please let the starter know how many players you are booking for so we can maximize our times in the most efficient way possible. By scheduling two twosomes we effectively eliminate a full available time that others could use. Thank you golfers for your cooperation in this matter as we seek ways to best use the allocated times.
Chase short putts into the hole
I don’t mean to walk them in like Kevin Na on the PGA tour, but to chase it with your putter. On short putts, firm and straight is the best method. Stroke the put firmly, and then let the putter head follow the ball on its way to the hole as far as you can. Keep the putter face square to the hole the entire time. This should help you make more of the five foot and less putts and lower your score. Remember you want to accelerate on every shot in golf including the short putts.
One Month to Remodel Time
In approximately one month we will begin the demolition and remodel of the bag room area of the clubhouse. The new replacement will consist of a two-story building in the same footprint as the current building and will house offices and a meeting room upstairs with new restrooms and simulators on the lower level. For those of you storing your bags at the clubhouse currently, you will be asked to remove them prior to the beginning of construction.
High School Boys Roll
The WHS boys golf team got off to a great start with the team winning the Browning Invitational in Shelby at the Marias Golf Club. Billy Smith paced the team with a great first-round score of 70, followed by Riley Brown and Johnny Nix at 75 and Matt Peschel at 78.
