WTC hosts auditions for musical Sweeney Todd
The Whitefish Theatre Company is holding auditions for its musical production of “Sweeney Todd” on Aug. 21 and 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Please arrive early to fill out an audition application and a waiver form. Please enter at the north side of the building near WTC’s parking lot and conference room.
“Sweeney Todd” has captivated audiences around the world with its murderous melodies and a haunting tale of love, revenge and hilarious mayhem. Considered to be one of the greatest scores in Broadway history, this eight-time Tony Award-winning musical with lyrics and score by Stephen Sondheim, tells the story of masterful barber, Sweeney Todd, as he returns to London to take his revenge against the corrupt judge who destroyed his life. In his vigilante quest, he meets the cheerfully amoral pie shop owner Mrs. Lovett, who soon becomes an accomplice in his deadly schemes. Together, they sing their way through murder and mischief to the top of the food chain in this morbidly funny musical that promises to be a tasty, thrilling and theatrical treat.
Kim Krueger is the director and Karla West is the music director of this production. “Sweeney Todd” will have a large cast, comprised of a diverse array of actors ages 15 and up. There is one role for a younger actor, ages 12 to 15. It should be noted that the production does contain strong subject matter. No preparation is required for the audition.
Select music rehearsals will begin the week of Aug. 29. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9-10 p.m. There are eight performances over two weekends on Oct. 20-23 and Oct. 27-30.
