Tee to Green: Board positions open, WHS team kicks off season

Member/Guest Tournament

The next big event at Whitefish Lake Golf Club is the member/guest tournament on Aug. 28 and 29. This popular event is completely full with a waiting list and will involve both courses for the two days with tee times after the rounds are completed.

WLGA Board positions

This year at the annual meeting on Oct. 15 two new board members will be elected to replace outgoing board members Karen Jacobson and Jeff Doorn. If you have been a tier one WLGA member for at least five years and are over 18 years of age you are eligible to run for a seat on the board of directors. At least one of the two vacant seats must be filled by a female WLGA member. If you are interested in serving on the board please send an email to terry@golfwhitefish.com stating your desire to serve and a short bio.

WHS Golf Tournament

The Whitefish High School golf teams will kick off their season by hosting a tournament on the South Course on Aug. 23. Spectators are welcome to watch the players, with certain rules, such as remaining a certain distance away and observing golf etiquette at all times.

Adjust to side hill lies

If you have a shot where the ball lies on the side of a hill, you will need to adjust your stance and swing path to hit your target. If the ball is above your feet the ball will tend to fly left of the target. Open the face of your club and aim a little to the right. If your feet are above the ball it will tend to fly to the right, so close the club face and aim a little to the left of your target. Be sure to maintain your balance during the swing as it may be difficult with side hill lies.
