Alcohol and speed are suspected factors in a crash that killed a Kalispell man over the weekend when the ATV he was driving collided with a pickup.

According to a Montana Highway Patrol report, the crash happened Sunday, July 31 at 1085 Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell at about 5 p.m.

The 41-year-old Kalispell man was driving a Polaris ATV north on Whitefish Stage at a high rate of speed when he hit the passenger side of a southbound Toyota Tundra that was attempting to make a left turn, the report states.

The man was transported to Logan Health where he later died. His passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Marion, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Logan Health. Neither was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the pickup was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol report states that road conditions were clear and dry, and that alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash.
