Flathead Rivers Alliance (FRA) announces community day events, Predict the Peak contest, and invites public input on the future of the Three Forks of the Flathead Wild and Scenic River.

Join Flathead Rivers Alliance on April 26 at Backslope Brewing’s Community Benefit Day 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on May 10 at Sacred Waters Brewing for Bingo & Beer Pint Night from 6-8 p.m. for yummy eats, delicious brews and good times. Both businesses are generously donating a portion of that day’s proceeds to the organization and door prizes will also be awarded.

There will be message boards at both events to capture what you love most about the river system and what you see for the Three Forks of the Flathead River in 20 years. In addition, Flathead Rivers Alliance message boards will be located at REI in Kalispell May 14‐15. Door prizes are made possible thanks to Montana Raft & Glacier Guides, REI, Great Northern Resorts, and more partner businesses.

New this year, Flathead Rivers Alliance is partnering with Montana Freshwater Partners and Gallatin Watershed Council for the annual Predict the Peak contest. It is open now until May 22 or until river peaks. Each spring as snow melts in the mountains, it feeds the rivers with a pulse of water, bringing the highest streamflows of the year to our rivers. The “peak flow” changes year to year in timing and volume. Predict this year’s correct “peak flow” for the Flathead, Yellowstone, Bitterroot, and Gallatin, or all four, and win. Proceeds support nonprofits conducting stewardship programming and projects on these rivers. One grand prize package for each river will go to the person who has the closest guess to the actual peak flow and top runner-up guesses will be awarded prizes as well.

The grand prize package for the Flathead River is worth $1,600 and includes a YETI cooler and full‐day guided fishing trip on the Flathead River with Hilary Hutcheson courtesy of Lary’s Fly & Supply, a two‐night stay at Grouse Mountain Lodge, and dinner for two at Three Forks Grille. Top runner-up guess prizes include: half‐day whitewater or scenic float for two with Glacier Guide and Montana Raft Co., Montana Fly Company gear package, Three Forks of the Flathead Wild & Scenic River Float Guide, and SWAG bags.

The Flathead Rivers Alliance is a non‐profit friends group that supports and enhances the outstanding and remarkable Three Forks of the Flathead River, and works to ensure access and enjoyment for all.
