The Whitefish track and field team has now had two weekends in a row of canceled competition.

Coach Kelliann Blackburn says the team is chomping at the bit to get into a meet but has had to deal with unfavorable weather and cancelations for the first two weeks of the season.

Both the boys and girls teams were scheduled to compete in Hamilton on Saturday, but when the Whitefish team had made it to Missoula they got the call that the Broncs decided to cancel due to the wintery weather.

The week prior, the Bulldogs also could not compete because the Bigfork Invite was canceled. That meet was scheduled as Whitefish’s first competition of the season on April 2, but again weather forced Bigfork to make the call.

And yet again, Whitefish was scheduled to compete at the Kalispell Time Trials on Tuesday afternoon, but the meet was called off.

The Bulldogs are keeping their fingers crossed for the upcoming week and hopefully some warmer weather is in the near future.

The team will compete next at the MCPS Invite in Missoula on Saturday and a Bigfork Invite on Tuesday, April 19.
