Workforce Housing Summit addresses critical housing shortage
The local community is being faced with a critical workforce housing shortage, and according to the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, it is the No. 1 issue facing the business community today. In response, several organizations in Whitefish are coming together to host a Workforce Housing Summit.
The Whitefish Workforce Housing Summit is scheduled for April 13 at Grouse Mountain Lodge. Check-in and a breakfast buffet will begin at 8:30 a.m. and from 9 to 11 a.m. the Housing Summit, presentations and panel discussions will take place.
An update on the community’s workforce housing efforts, like what is in the works right now and what is in line to be tackled next, will be discussed.
The Summit will include progress reports from the Whitefish Housing Authority, an analysis of what it will cost to meet our city’s current workforce housing needs and a panel discussion featuring local employers who are actively investing in housing for their workers. Also a discussion on possible revenue streams to help pay the bill, and two presentations on employer-assisted housing and housing co-ops.
The event is presented by the Chamber, the City of Whitefish, the Whitefish Convention & Visitors Bureau, Glacier Restaurant Group and the Whitefish Housing Authority.
The cost is $20 per person. Advance reservations required by April 8. Register online at https://whitefishareachamber.chambermaster.com/eventregistration/register/56399
