Police Calls: Chevy drives off without paying for gas — for the third time in a week
March 24
9:14 a.m. A victim of a dog bite on Colorado Avenue was also the owner of the dog.
11:03 a.m. A dog owner on Dugans Way came home to a voicemail from police regarding his barking dog. A sleepy caller reported the barking keeps waking him up at all hours of the night.
11:17 a.m. Blondie, the beagle, was seen walking on Pine Avenue.
8:11 p.m. There was some suspicious activity involving someone throwing a large bag into a city garbage can.
March 25
1:01 a.m. For the third time this week, a Chevy van drove off without paying for gas on Highway 93.
8:11 a.m. Blondie the beagle’s new owner contacted police for advice about humane traps. Blondie only knew her new name for 10 minutes before running off; the owners had been trying to catch her for several days.
4:55 p.m. A bear near Birch Point Drive and the railroad tracks prevented the caller and her family from heading directly to their home. While they waited for a ride, the small black bear knocked over a trash can and walked out of sight.
7:27 p.m. Two dogs on Columbia Avenue have been barking for at least three hours.
9:45 p.m. A car that looked like a Jeep was swerving all over Highway 93.
9:49 p.m. A caller reported a truck with a canvas tarp over the bed. She thought it was suspicious because she had not seen it before and it had no plates but police determined it was not fishy.
March 26
1:32 a.m. A female in a jean jacket stole ice in a cup and concealed something under her left arm before leaving the location on Highway 40.
2:16 p.m. A woman who was arrested last night was looking for her wallet and phone.
2:35 p.m. An ‘extremely frustrated’ caller has called repeatedly to discuss the barking dogs on Dugans Way but when an officer arrived, all he observed was a lemonade stand and a quiet yard.
