Rural fire board seeks volunteers for steering committee
The Whitefish Fire Service Area board is looking for volunteers to serve on a steering committee that would assist in gathering information to help advise future actions and developments of the board.
Five volunteers are needed to form the committee that would provide recommendations to help direct the board over the next several years.
Residents of the fire service are eligible to apply. Interested parties need to express their interest by submitting the form at www.whitefishfireservicearea.org/steeringcommittee. Applications for the committee are due on Oct. 10. The board will announce selections by Oct. 31.
“The Whitefish Fire Service Area needs a better plan for the future,” said board President Mark Carlson. “The WFSA board is committed to identifying clear, strategic steps for the future of the WFSA. The research and analysis completed by the steering committee will be vital to the future of fire service inside the WFSA.”
The board expects the committee to operate for three months, and volunteers are asked to commit 10 hours per week. Applicants with special skillsets to contribute such as firefighting, financial planning and negotiating are encouraged to apply.
“This steering committee has been in process over the last few months as the board has sought to provide more information and education to people who live in the WFSA,” said board Vice President Jimmy Deats. “People have questions about insurance, paid/volunteer firefighters, fire districts, and many other areas. The steering committee will help the board provide answers to questions like these.”
Questions about the steering committee, or the fire service area in general, can be submitted via the contact us form at www.whitefishfireservicearea.org or by emailing board@whitefishfireservicearea.org.
