The Western A tip-off tournament got the volleyball season off to a quick start with a series of two-set matches throughout Friday and Saturday.

Throughout the tournament Whitefish played seven matches and finished with one win and one tie, and five losses. They finished in eighth place out of 12 teams in the tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs started off on Friday losing all five games in the pool play.

Saturday Whitefish bounced back with a win over East Helena, 25-21, 25-22. Then later tied with Hamilton — 18-25, 25-18.

The results of pool play led to Whitefish taking on Stevensville in the seventh-place match. The Lady Bulldogs fell to the Yellowjackets 25-22, 25-20 to place eighth.

Next up Whitefish plays Frenchtown Thursday night at the Whitefish High School gym.
