Voting for Caltabiano
I am writing to share a few of the reasons that I am voting for Giuseppe “G-Man” Caltabiano.
Giuseppe has been our neighbor since we moved here in 2013. I got to know him before he had any thoughts of running for public service. He has always demonstrated a sincere and humble attitude of serving and giving to others. From continually volunteering in a plethora of areas to taking a keen interest in providing learning and character-building opportunities to our three teenage boys, not just his own, Giuseppe has a spirit of being a cheerful giver.
I’ve also had the pleasant fortune of watching Giuseppe transition from permanent resident to fully-fledged US citizen, as I did myself. To see and feel his excitement and embrace of American values has been heart-warming. He has studied the Constitution and other founding documents more than most, and it has guided him to a centrist and independent political point of view that is not beholden to one side of the aisle or the other. I believe we need more of this sort of balance on our City Council.
From serving on the Glacier International Airport board, to handling global operations for his successful payments company, to teaching Whitefish’s youth about entrepreneurship, Giuseppe understands economics and the successful handling of money. I studied economics in university where Henry Hazlitt’s “Economic Lesson” was ingrained in me. Every decision should consider the needs of the many, not just the few; the long-term consequences, not just short-term; and the unintended consequences, not just intended ones. Giuseppe understands this and continually demonstrates wisdom and good stewardship, which is particularly essential when you have influence over other peoples’ money. I believe we need more of this on our City Council.
Win or lose, Giuseppe is an asset to the community and Whitefish needs more people like him — as neighbors, as friends, as colleagues, as leaders, and most certainly as public servants. I urge you to join me in electing and entrusting him as a member of City Council in these extraordinary times.
